SEO upgrade guide?

I am going to upgrade to 2.06 - exporting my current database.

My product pages have good Google positions.

Will I keep my Google results or do I have to do extensive page redirects or something else?

I can tell you this much, not sure how much it is SSL fault or misconfiguration in seo category names + few seo bugs in 2.04 and 2.05 but my google ranks are dead compared to what I had in 135.

2 most important keywords I was found in 1 - 5 position now I am barely found…

Darius,

You have me nervous…

Is 2.06 ok do you think?

Perhaps redirects need to be put into place?

Darius made his entire store secure, if I can recall correctly, therefore the search engines will have to completely re-index his store. Not to mention, I have no idea if search engines agree with SSL or not?

As long as your links do not change it should stay the same from my exerience from past upgrades for example a link before upgrade is http://www.yoursite.com_p133.html for a product then if you change anything or settings it may look like this or vice versa http://www.yoursite.com_product.html it will need to be indexed again.

It is only out for about 1 to 2 weeks then get indexed and back up same spot or higher from my experiences just watch or check your product link pages

I did not make my entire store with ssl, just checkout. Now I don’t know how to make google forget about https

Most interesting this is rest pages were reindexed but not the home page…

in google site:http://www.hitechcloseout.com/

I think this website is set to have only cart and checkout SSL but in google I see more pages with https

If you have SEO enabled, add this to your robots.txt:

Disallow: /index.php

What does this do? I do not have it in mine dissallow index

It will keep the search engines from indexing non-relevant pages i.e. cart, checkout, etc…

Are you sure nothing is missing in this line ?

OK I’ll ask in other way, what will be indexed then?

My site is truebalticamber.com

I got redirect truebalticamber.lt

The redirect is found very well, however I cannot find truebalticamber.com in google, all pages apart from home page truebalticamber.com/index.php

Can anyone advise what to do? Or explain how to get this installed

Everything that has an SEO name hence “If you have SEO enabled…”

My guess is because it’s being redirected. Personally I would get rid of the redirect. It doesn’t take Google that long to index a site.

No reason to.

Whats wrong with redirect? Why is it presented in google better then actual site?

My domain is since 2005, was in first positions for “Baltic amber” and “amber jewelry” keywords… but since I installed 2x google does not like it anymore and does not show in search results (things like categories, pages, products are in results but not index.php)…

I don’t know? I’m not a Google engineer but once again, I would get rid of the redirect. Why would it be indexed if it already has a redirect from another indexed domain?

I made a 301 redirect from redirect domain, thats what google offers to do.

What do you think about making these in robots.txt
