wish list

I haven’t found any explanation about the feature “wish list”.

Is it a button that open text box with place for customer to write the products that he/she wish to be have in store?

If the “Wish list” add-on is active, there should be a link product detail (and product list) page with a link that says “Add to wish list”. This information is stored in the database allowing the customer to find the information at the “Wishlist” link available in My Account area when they later return to the site.

So this list (wish list) it’s only for the customer to be view latter…when they’ll be back?

Absolutely Yes, this feature will save your time to find hard search of your item.

OK, thanks!

I’ve had a few customers complaining that their wishlists have dissapeared. I know that cs cart 1.x stored wishlists as part of the session, causin them to dissapear when the session expired. I had the impression that this problem had been fixed by v 2.0.12 - and that wishlists are now stored in the database, tied to customer accounts - but haven’t been able to find anything in the documentation regarding how the wishlist addon works.

It would be a shame to lose custom as a result of cookies being cleared or sessions expiring, as it would also be a pity if a bug is causing database instability - but it would be great to get this cleared up, either way.

Below are two of today’s complaints about the Wishlist functionality in v. 2.0.12:

  1. “Hi my wish list seems to be empty yet last time i looked there were several books in there. Can you help ? Kind Regards”

  2. “Firstly, why does my wish list appear as empty every time I re-visit the site? The idea of a wish list, to my mind, is to hold details of books I would like to buy but can’t afford just now. I used to keep cuttings from the magazine to remind me, then decided to put them on my wish list - and now they’re not there and I can’t remember what they all were! You are losing sales this way - please do something to make wish list itesm stay on the list even when customers log out!”

Can anyone help? Thanks very much in advance!

I have also big problems with wishlist. I am planning to buy cs-cart for the second time, but my client complains that the wishlist function does not offer any real use to the customers since it is not even possible to mail it.

This is a real shame for a product of the quality of CS-Cart. All other carts I have tested have a good wishlist function.

I would appreciate any help on this.

I have been using the wish list for some time. I think it is useful, but can be improved. My customers tend to add to the wishlist over a period of time, then purchase. They are using it for themselves and not to send to anyone. Seems to work well for this limited function, but may of my customers do use it and and end up selecting items from it for purchase.

I do have to warn them that even though they are adding to the wishlist, the items are not removed from inventory and the item may be out of stock by the time they decide to purchase the item.

We're considering developing a module that will 'remind' customers of items left in their wishlist, with the intent of reminding them to purchase in future. Giving away $5 coupons seems the way to roll these days, but I agree fully with Verve & Bob's statements.

As I consider the wishlist feature as a very powerful “marketing tool”, I would love to see an add-on with the following capabilities (jealous of X-Cart  ):

  • Wishlist mailto

  • Ability to display wishlist current content as a sidebox (block) on all pages (Very useful as the user constantly sees his selections and may decide to buy one of them after all)

  • Move cart content to wishlist and vice-versa

    *As for the “display wishlist current content on a block” do you have any idea on how I could implement this by my self;

You may checkout our Wishlist Pro addon http://www.cscartroc…cts-block.html. It will solve the problem.

Is there in database any information, that helps to see products are most often added to wish lists?
