Is it possible in cs-cart version 2, to add a few small photos next to the product main image, and by clicking on them the main photo of the products change?

Yes, this is possible in Version 2 out of the box.
How to configure?

Add ‘Option Combinations’ and then set the images for each combination.
You must have inventory tracking ticked on the combination page for this to work (Even if you have inventory tracking turned off)
