what makes me upset is that cs told us over 1+ yrs ago they would include a data feed manager and the product tabs addons into 2.0+, well as you can see they never made it, in addition we’ve been told they will be included but with no road map and false promises I doubt we’ll ever see them, if folks are willing to donate to this datafeed addon ($800) and product tabs addon ($900) together, then I have $300 in for both addons…
What is the “product tabs addon”? They want $900 for that?
Count me in for $200.

Hi Kingsley, product tabs was an addon we paid cs a long time an astronomical amount of money that enalbed us to create custom product tabs on the product detail pages, it also enabled us to move the tabs in any order, sounds like we’re awefully close to getting the donations for both, kingsley if you want I can setup the donation collection on the snorocket site, and we can then pay cs in 1 lump sum payment, let me know, Thanks - Sno
Sno,
You ALREADY paid for the products tabs addon but it’s not been deliverered? So why are you paying another $900? Not sure I’m understanding…
That’s fine to set up the donations on your site for the Data Feed module. I was going to collect through my PayPal account but your idea might work best.
Looks like our total is now at $750, so we only need another $50.

this was another feature we never got, oh but we got a hot deals addon no one asked for that doesn’t work…lol

long story of events that happened before you joined the community, we paid to have product tabs for the 1.3.5+ branch, it was an awesome addon, everyone loved it, had lots of support, 2.0+ came along and we had to have it recoded, people griped, no one wanted to donate again for the same addon, so it died off with broken promises from cs that they would include it…
Hello Sno,
I’m surprised to read your messages full of sadness, you one of the biggest CS-Cart supporter here.
It seems to me, from now, to have a real evolution of CS-Cart, we need to put money in the pot. A few or a lot, that is the question…
It’s a dangerous jeopardy, because if no one customer plays the game, the evolution of CSC will be frozen, and CSC will be outpaced by the competition. Because competition exists and is active!
Remember, RSS module is present in the most basic shopping cart.
Ask, and wait more and always more money, it’s like play Russian roulette… Everybody knows the end.
Sno, don’t let money squabbles ruin a friendship.

Hello Sno,
Here is a real “Deal of the Day”:

Count me as another who is unhappy that promised features are not making their way into CS-Cart. As much as I like many things about CS-Cart, the competition is catching up (and in certain areas outperforming) this cart.
I am also not anxious to pay separately for features which - even if not promised - should be included from a competitive standpoint. Then there is the matter of continually dealing with issues as CS-Cart gets updated (meaning yet more money spent).
I appreciate that v2 was a major undertaking and hold some hope that the new codebase will allow more timely enhancements. But my patience is running a bit thin - I hope I see improvements before I see the “exit” sign.

I know how you feel. It was feelings such as you describe which led me, some months ago, to start searching for an alternative to the cart I had been using since 2005. I really hope CS-Cart comes through for us and that we can all stick with them and be happy for a good number of years.
One point about the Data Feed Module is that a $100 contribution is not really that much when you consider the time saved. It would take me considerable time each month (or however often I wanted to submit feeds) to prepare feeds manually for Pricegrabber, Pronto and Shopzilla–time that I could be using for something else.
I’m purchasing this on behalf of my clientele, mainly US based to which these comparison website mean little due to a niche product offering. The idea for me is to appear in all these websites under said niche and draw traffic from, then to our webiste.
CS-Cart promised CS-Mall (Multiple shop-fronts) in 2.0
CS-Cart promised Product tabs in 2.0
Essentially they delivered both so in the interest of investment these items need to be paid for. As I recall I’ve donated quite a lot to Sno, I’ll continue so long as we know how far away this is, obviously I’d need the mods to be functioning for the 2.0.x branch for as long as possible.
Running Total:
Kingsleypress - $100
Stuck - $100
JesseLeeStringer - $200
Snorocket -$50
Rack01 - $100
sixnin9 - $200
Total $750
[$50 remaining]
Sno’s Product tab is a great addon. The ability to link global tabs to products is a big plus for this feature.
I had it in 1.3.5 and have been waiting ever since for it to be included in 2.0.
Still waiting…
Bob
The economy sucks, Thanksgiving & Christmas are right around the corner, if we can pay cs this week for the 2 addons, possibly we can have them done within 3-4 weeks, that makes it the beginning of October, pretty much the perfect time to ramp up sales campaigns, who in for these addons? if everyone would donate $20 we’d have the money…

I am mostly interested in the further development of the configurator.
Apparently 50$ required and i will finize it to close this. I hope some of you can support further development of the configurator as well if any of you interested.

Are you pledging $50 for the data feed module? If so, we can proceed and get the developers started on it.
Yes! That’s right!
OK, so we now have $800 pledged. I have communicated again with the custom development team just to make sure that we are all singing from the same hymn sheet, and specifically making sure that this addon will become a permanent part of the CS-Cart code and that we will not have to pay to upgrade it each time the cart is upgraded.
I’ll get back with you about payment details once I hear back from them.
The response from the development team is very disappointing.
We will develop this modification for CS-Cart version 2.0.6
We will prepare the customization package and upload it to your File Area. Also we will prepare the instructions which will help you to install this modification on your server .
We will install this modification on your server.
We will use the “Basic” skin for the admin panel.
The modification will be installed only on the domain(s) specified in this detailed description.
While developing this modification we will do only what is described above.
All additions and changes of this modification will require some extra payments.
This project will work correctly in Internet Explorer 6 (for Windows OS), Internet Explorer 7 (for Windows OS), Internet Explorer 8 (for Windows OS), FireFox 3 (for Linux and Windows OS), Safari 2 (for Mac OS) and Opera 9.5 (for Linux OS) browsers.
The modification of such complexity will cost USD800.
At this moment we can start working for you in 2 weeks after the payment is made.
The whole task will take us 10-12 business days to complete.
Review the detailed description above and if you think it misses something then please supplement it or specify any of the points if necessary. The price I gave you includes only the changes described above. So, I would recommend you to review the offered solution thoroughly and correct/complete it if necessary.
PLEASE NOTE: Those who have contributed funds to this project have done so with the understanding that this module will be integrated in the CS-Cart programming and that it will be updated and supported in future versions of CS-Cart. If you cannot promise or guarantee that this will become part of the CS-Cart software, then we are not willing to proceed because if it does not become part of the software, then it will have to be upgraded every time there is a new CS-Cart release and we will have to pay for it to be upgraded.
If you agree to these conditions, please let us know how to proceed as quickly as possible to get this addon developed.
I have already forwarded your request to the software development department. The thing you offered might be developed in the future, but I can’t give you any promises about it.
Also I have reviewed the discussion on our forum. As far as I can see, each client has own requirements for the module.
Please let me explain. It is very inconvenient for us to work on the modification in such conditions, as we will have to adapt to every client’s needs. And this will make the development of the modification much more complex.
Moreover, we guarantee free bug fixing for our modifications within some time after the modification is completed. However, this guarantee applies only to the domain specified in the project specification. And we will be responsible only for the modification on this domain. I hope for your understanding in this matter.
In this case we can offer you the following solution. We will discuss the specification of this project directly with you (not with all clients). After we have finished the discussion, you will need to pay the whole amount at once (not by installments from different clients). When the project is finished, we will provide you with the patch and instructions on how to install the modification. And you will be able to distribute the modification among the clients who paid for it. But we will be responsible only for the module installed on your domain. Also please note that according to our policy, we are the owners of the modification, that is why you are not entitled to sell it to other clients. So we need to know the domains on which you are going to install the modification in order to avoid any misunderstanding in the future.
We look forward to your reply.
