Just curious cause I might get it wrong many times. I am working on a development site in order to debug a issue I have between one particular third party addon, the live production store and the installed and enabled other third party addons.
On my development platform I just did a fresh CS Cart install followed by a restoration of the database from the live store and then followed by installing addon's one by one and then the desired non default third party theme.
I must say by the way that sofar everything seems to work OKAY so I could be on the right track...  Yet I could be proven wrong... PLEASE!! tell this noob if you will and see fit to comment on his ... bug fixing journey.
Sounds right to me, or maybe you could have installed the them before any 3rd party addons.
Question
why didnt you just disable third party addons one by one from live store
Very valid point indeed, I plee guilty. No seriously you are right I will do that with the next restoration. Just remember that this is just a site for development.
Theme, then addons since many themes won't install addons correctly when they install.
Clear enough, does that include the base theme as well ? What I mean to ask is , do you consider the new base default theme also a theme or more of a foundation upon a third party theme is installed.
In general, the system is geared for addons to be installed into themes. It is completely up to the theme as to whether it recognizes installed addons and then installs from the var/themes_repository/responsive directory Given that a new "base theme" might do things completely different than the Responsive theme, there would be no guarantee of things working properly (layout/format, hooks, styles, etc.).

Well yes as base theme Responsive or the new Bright theme.
Ought a theme be so dominant in determining if an addon will work or not ? I know this is perhaps an whole different question but still.
Can't addon developers create a way around this or theme builders ??
I guess I now remember why we dumped the Buyshop theme.
Restoring db in fresh install will not get rid of addons you consider not installing. Best would be somehow uninstalling all addons from making db backup to have all clean and nice..
I get some addons work incorrect after restoring db and installing addon, then I uninstall addon and install over again, then all is fine.

Even if you disable all third party addons before making the backup from the live production store Darius ? Sofar ... I do not see any issues..*(yet - fingers crossed).
I am actually experimenting with the Emerald theme from ThemeHills. Our current live store is using the Graceful theme from Cart Power.
The addons that I want to use in the store that should replace our live store are the once we have store / domain license for.

Sometimes there is confusion about use of terms. I.e. 'Theme" is sometimes referred to as a combination of the layout and the styling (most common) and sometimes it is a whole new set of files as well as layout and styling.
In the latter case, the theme would be responsible for staying current with all hooks and methods used in the underlying cart. If your "Theme" simply applies a different layout and styling then standard responsive theme is the base theme and its methods will be used and would contain all hooks and methods for proper operation.
Interesting choice, most of it don't even improve shopping experience for the customer :)
3. HW (Hungry Web) A-Z Product Catalog
I prefer using brands feature, not exactly as a brand but as a feature, really do not see a point for page where product title first letter is presented.
4. HW (Hungry Web) Product Tabs Extra
What tab are you not able to fit so you need addon ?
8. Alt Team guest checkout - let registered customer checkout like guest with registered email of registered account
Most of my registered customers would make me joint orders to their account then place checkout as guests..
9. Alt Team stock filter
This is done via filters, you do not need addon for that..
11. Searchanise
cs-cart live seach does very good jog for me.
14. HW Sortable Picker
Do you really need that..
17. SimtechDev - reCaptcha..
Already available in 452
18. HW Custom Shipment Carriers and Tracking Number Progress
Webkul addon is twice cheaper.

Just for exercise and just because I know you like a rebuttal.
3. HW (Hungry Web) A-Z Product Catalog

The brands feature is what I use as filter as well and the buildin "our brandpage template" and "this brandpage template" are used but I am not so happy on their looks
As for the A-Z page. Analyzing the analytics and hotspots on our site visitors use this often so in our case it might not be so usually for us.
4. HW (Hungry Web) Product Tabs Extra
What tab are you not able to fit so you need addon ?
In our case I put the package insert into this second product tab which is based in the database not
8. Alt Team guest checkout - let registered customer checkout like guest with registered email of registered account

Does this allow your customers then to use their email that they use when registered ? What if your client has now setup account with johndoe@yahoo.com but has not his password ready and still want to place an order with this johndoe@yahoo.com email. Can he do so ?
What addons would you suggest that enhance sales then ?

I get some addons work incorrect after restoring db and installing addon, then I uninstall addon and install over again, then all is fine.
This might be a good idea but then I was thinking about the other issues I migh encounter and that worries me. Let me explain
certain addons like for instances the addons I have installed for which I got a license from EZ MS (@tbirnseth).
EZ Admin Helper, I still have the addon before installed this one back in 2016 before I upgraded from V4.2
Those settings will be lost but when I will be installing this particular addon back in a clean reinstalled V4.5.2 I am not sure it will work.
As for other addon's that allow you to store more data in the database like blog data what will happen to that data if you uninstall the blog ?
There are different types of data associated with addons.
1) The addon settings (those you get to through addons.manage and selecting the Settings option or click the name)
2) Data related to the addon that can be stored outside the addon settings.
For #1, there's not much you can do other than to capture the values and then uninstall/install and reapply the settings (like license keys).
For #2, there is generally a item that you can comment out to prevent it from removing tables that were added during initial install (and the data in them).
Trouble is that many addons have data in V4 that is quite different than V2. Hence there may not be a clean way for "you" to migrate the data from V2 to V4. For our more popular products, we have this built into the install process and/or have tools built-in that will check the data and migrate as appropriate.
Anytime you move from one major version to another you should assume that your addons will NOT be compatible without some adjustments. Those adjustments should be done by the developer to avoid defects.
