We are based in Ireland and charge VAT @ 21%
When we sell to any customers in Ireland we charge that rate.
And when we sell to non business customers, we charge that rate, anywhere in the world.
However … when we sell to businesses outside Ireland & who are based in the EU & have an EU VAT number we do not collect VAT from them, as this is classed as an export.
Does CS Cart support this? Can customers who are based in the EU bypass the VAT charge ???
You can specify for each user that they are tax-exempt. You will need to manually set this for each customer you do not want taxed.

Can it be done through creating a customer group like “EU B2B” and all customers assigned to this group won’t be charged?
Thanks for your replies.I was hoping to get this automated, so the system would check the validity of the vat number and then let the customer continue with the purchase without paying VAT…

That was my first thought but you cannot specify usergroups for each tax - this would be a great improvement. On the other hand, since you probably need to check the validity of the customer’s VAT number, it may not be such a burden to set the tax exempt setting manually.
The one potential problem I see is that a company marked tax exempt ships to both Ireland and the EU - in this case no tax would be charged for the shipment to Ireland.
