Hi,
I hope someone can help. I have someone working on my site doing some template changes, and last night she was uploading a few things, and had a power cut. Now my site www.capitalcaterers.co.uk is messed up (no banners on the right, no middle content, all products listed under recently viewed…). Also, all the banners are missing that are meant to be on the right hand column. What is more strange is that on the admin side, there are only 3 tabs, Content, Orders & Administration, and the Administration tab has only got ‘Statistics’ & ‘Store Access’ options. I don’t know what has happened, i am guessing it is something small, but i hope there is an easy solution.
Many thanks
Michael
I think it’s your developer’s problem and responsibility to restore your site.
Why she didn’t use Notebook or have a UPS?
How many modifications have you made? If not many, try to upload all the files again except config.local.php file.

Your developer does not know what she was uploading or what changes was she making ? If she does not know how should we know then?
I think she did something and now does not know how to restore, who makes changes without backup anyway ?
Thanks for your quick reply Joe. I agree with you. Does the fact that many tabs are missing in the admin section point to anything? Cheers Mike

It point to that you cannot damage so many files in one power loss. Too many files are responsible for things you mentioned. Only a person who does not know what is doing can make such mess.

That’s weird if your developer only changed the frontstore skin. We’ll see after you restore all the files.
If still not correct, try to clean your var folder to clean the cache.
I agree Darius. Unfortunately i picked this person from one of those websites you hire contractors from, and have so far had bad luck
You have a bunch of javascript errors too, your “view your basket” and Go to Checkout links dont work on the top right, FF 3 on PC.
Thanks for the replies. I have now loaded my backup files to the website, as that seemed easier than sorting the mess out!

Do I need to say much more here?
A single point of call, you will find a lot of “nasty” people willing to be paid peanuts to access your store, granted you’ll find that credit-card number are shown in plain-text. (Which means easy shopping for them) Just make sure you trust them otherwise you’ll have a fair bit more punishment coming to you in the future.

In future you should be able to FTP and look for file datestamps and replace accordingly, from what I can tell you’ve been “signed up for membership = administrator” and so you’ve been provided with extremely limited access.
Regardless, Good Luck!
