I am wanting to upgrade to the latest version from Version 1.3.5 SP2. I have coding experience however not much php & am very worried that all the modifications I’ve made will be lost. How hard is this to do? Does it automatically keep the previous modifications, or is it basically installing a new cart & starting over?
I can’t afford even half of what support has quoted to do this for me.
Hi Brennie,
You should consider contacting either Snowrocket or Jesse Lee Stringer here in the forums for assistance with your upgrade. Problem is you have gone so long without upgrading that there is a load of work to get your site up to the current version. There are supposed to be some improvements made to the overall upgrade process in the soon to be released version 2.1.3, so you may want to hold off a while longer & then upgrade to this version. Also, if your business does much shipping, you will greatly appreciate the improvements in this version!
Once your initial upgrade has been made, you will most likely not have much of a problem performing your own upgrades when desired, you just need to get past this 1.3.5 hurdle!

Thanks for the referral Struck, by the sound of things Brennie doesn’t want to upgrade considering the costs involved. It’s time-intensive work at the easiest part of it.
That’s what I thought - sounds extremely exhaustive, with time, brain damage & money. At the same time I’ve invested alot into cs-cart & in my store & want to get the most out of it. Am I missing anything really special? Like new add-ons, etc.? I do do alot of shipping.

Considering the 2.1.2 changelog is a mile long - Yes many.

Your welcome Jesse, best to send work to helpful forum members whenever possible.

Brennie, you can read about the recent changes in the 2.1.3 Release Candidate thread. You can also check out the online demo, you know the routine.
If you are on a limited budget & needing to upgrade all the way from 1.3.5, you might want to consider just “re-creating” your site from scratch onto the latest version. You could leave your existing site in operation while re-creating your new site at your leisure.
Thanks for the responses. I’ll check out the documentation & the demo. Thanks!
