I have been trying to upgrade to 2.1.4 but have to do the 2.1.3 upgrade. Never have used the upgrade center before. I have made a copy of database and copied all files to new test domain. Check all permissions. Have entered the License number.
When I click on the “install” button I see the progress bar at the bottom of ie flash by in a 1.5 seconds. Nothing else seems to happen. I have check /web/var/upgrade directory and there is nothng there. The only thing I can think of is that I have not set a Domain to my liscense yet as I am still making changes and have not decided on the final domain name.

If your store is configured and running then the upgrade should succeed assuming you were able to get the upgrade data. But since you said that you clicked a button to begin the upgrade, can only assume you do.
Are you being patient enough? 2.1.2 → 2.1.3 is a fairly large upgrade and if you have http output buffering on, you might not see the progress till it actually completes each section.

Thought maybe I was just in a hurry. So I tried again and sat here playing minesweeper. It has been 15 minutes and I see no sign of anything happening.
After clicking on the “Install” button I see the progress bar go by, then in the bottom left corner of ie it says done. This all happens in about 2 seconds.
The test server it is on is my own in the basement. So maybe I don’t have something set up correctly. Everything else seems to function properly.
Any other thoughts? Iwould really like to get up to 2.1.3 or 2.1.4 to see how the new multibox shipping works.

What does your php error_log say? Sounds like something is exiting early and the error log is probably the only place you’re going to find out why. Check ownerships and permissions on var/upgrade directory and it’s contents.

Hello David,
It seems that the problem occurred because incorrect FTP settings are entered on the “Settings: Upgrade Center” page in the administration panel of your store. Please check them.
I finally got it to start the upgrade process. But the list of permissions that needed to be change was so extensive, I figured to just do a fresh install and recreate the changes to my skins.
