I followed the steps in the knowledge base on how to transfer my cart to another server, but it did not work. It failed to transfer any products or categories, and none of the changes to the blocks I made were transferred over either.

I had to change the permissions for the database folder and then everything worked.
Could you please help us with what changes were done with the folder permissions? I transferred my site as per the Knowledge base article and my whole menu is lost. I now have a site without any menu. Will appreciate your help.
