Transaction type in payment method

I have a question on the Transaction type in the Editing Payment page of admin/payment method.



If I select the Authorize Only option for the transaction type for the credit card purchase, and enter the credit card information, what would happen? Do they make the transaction successful if all information is valid, or decline all the time since no payment is made?



What we want is to get the credit card information and no charge until the products are shipped. Is the Authorize Only the right one?

Yes, the credit card funds for order would “authorize” only at the time of the transaction and you would then “capture” the funds seperately at a later time of your choosing.
