I’m currently on 2.2.4 (Multivendor) and my 1 year free upgrade is about to expire. If I don’t renew now, i’ll miss the 50% discount. Now I’m contemplating if I need to…
My only reason to renew is so I can get nice updates and probably some bug fixes. But I think I already have everything I need in 2.2.4. Getting updates can also be a headache since things get broken whenever i update to a new version.
I wish to know some personal opinions and suggestions please
There are some known bugs in 2.2.4 which will be resolved in a future release. The release of v3 is also due in a month or so which will have quite a few new features - you'll also be in a spot of bother if your store breaks and requires CS-Cart support to take a look, by time you purchase another support pack, your store could have been fixed and back up and running again…it's also 50% cheaper now than it will be then.
Can you afford the risk? That's the ultimate question.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
The upgrade to version 3 will be a major upgrade and probably won't be available in the first few releases while they struggle to get it stable (from past experience 1.x to 2.x was at 2.0.8 - that's 8 releases into the new cart). So your newly subscribed year “could” run out before you even have an option for upgrading.
Since cs-cart has stated that 2.2.4 is expected to be the last 2.x release, you might contact them and ask if you can have your new upgrade period start when there is an upgrade available for 2.2.4. Seems like the right thing to do, but that certainly doesn't mean they will do it. But it never hurts to ask.
thank you for sharing your opinions
