Strange thing when a customer buys, pays then buys again.

It's happened twice now.

Version 3.0.6

A customer put items in shopping cart paid with PayPal

THEN spotted some other item and tossed it in the new cart.

The second purchase showed as 'Incomplete' and the

customer's first order completely disappeared ( and the item counts reset

with only the second order ( showing 'incomplete' ) being visible.

Is there a tweak that will prevent this ?

It is caused between the Paypal connection and your shop. After an order is placed by PayPal, customer is redirected back to your shop (but before the final confirmation is done by paypal, this cost a bit time).

This problem can also occur by other payment methods (like credit card processors etc).

Due the delay in confirmation and redirection the products in the shopping cart are not deleted. If a customer decide to buy another product, he will delete the existing products and place another order. Then the last placed order is paid.

Huge problems for this issue:

  • Product stock is not correct
  • Unclear situation for vendor and customer

    - Fraudulent handlings are possible!

We have contacted the technical helpdesk with this issue, but it is not solved yet in our situation. It seems to be a bug in CS3.06.

Gabbo…

The first order for 3 items went through smoothly and the customer paid.

This order appeared as 'processed' and the Order was visible.

The customer then ( a few minutes later I guess ) attempted to purchase

a single item and had trouble paying using PayPal. This order was displayed

as 'incomplete' and all record of the processed order ( 3 items ) completely

disappeared.

The second ( 'incomplete' ) order also had the 'same' order number.

Luckily the first order notification was emailed and I was able to print from

that.

I am wondering if I should add some warning at checkout advising customers

that they should wait a few minutes before attempting to place a second order

( but I am wondering if this would this help at all ).

Dennis…

So glad it's just not my cart. It most definitely sounds like a bug.

Some customers will have extra attention on this matter if you display a warning.

People with bad intentions can abuse it.

Well this is the last straw for me.

Not only can my customers not add more then 30 items at a time but now they are hitting this issue. If they want to order 100 items they need to make 3 or 4 orders and each time they have to delete the old items form the shopping cart.

It's annoying for them and embarissing for us as a company. What makes it worse if cscart think producing features to change the colour of the menu is more importent then fixing these problems.

2 years wasted moving to cs-cart and now for the success of my business I'll need to move again. My feeling about cs-cart is it's great for those who want to play at eccomerce but for a real business the has to be better out there.

I have popped this one into the Bug Tracker.

Not sure how it is acted apon. Maybe if others with the same problem

visit the bug tracker and confirm they have experienced the same problem

then it might be acted on.
