I have cart (still in testing) installed with SSL enabled. Backend and storefront are running ok on SSL.
In admin pages under “Settings: General” the only checkbox that I can enable is
Keep HTTPS connection once a secure page is visited.
When I try to enable
Enable secure connection at checkout (SSL certificate is required to be installed on your server)
Enable secure connection in the administration panel (SSL certificate is required to be installed on your server)
Enable secure connection for authentication, profile and orders pages (SSL certificate is required to be installed on your server)
I get warning message “the secure connection check has failed. Please check HTTPS settings in the “config.php” file and make sure that SSL certificate is installed on your server.”
So my question is, should these three be enabled as well? if so, why can't I enable them? Like I said, backend and frontend run on SSL with www and without perfectly.
Have you installed SSL on your server yet? If so, then it seems to be set up wrong. If you haven't, then go to a place like Namecheap (My preference) or GoDaddy and purchase a SSL cert. You will need a CSR to do this though. If you don't know how to get it, you could ask your host. Once you have the cert and have gone through the process of verification, you would need to install it.
If you don't know how to do any of this, then I'd recommend getting some help since it can be frustrating if you don't know what you are doing.
An alternative would be to ask your host to take care of this for you. It will probably cost a bit more, but they can just get it done for you.
Once you have the SSL cert figured out, then you can change the checkboxes in the admin. I personally have SSL for the admin, the checkout, and the profile pages. I don't have people stay on SSL once they are on it since I just don't see the reason and it seems to slow things down a little bit.
I hope that helps you. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.
I purchased the certificate and my host enabled SSL. it's enabled for www and without www and the whole site front and back are running ok. I asked him, why these three checkboxes can't be enabled and they said to me, if u can complete the checkout without problems, then u dont need them to be checked and there's nothing to worry about…
So as my whole site is on ssl, google chrome shows that the cert is ok and only last checkbox enabled, is this ok, or should these three be enabled as well even though it shows the green SSL icon in chrome??
Uhm, yep, you can complete checkout without those being checked, but that doesn't mean your site is secure. I've never experimented with the checkboxes, but I'd be pretty willing to bet that if you don't have at least the checkout SSL checkbox checked, then your customers aren't checking out securely.
What is the URL of your store? With that, me and anyone else that wants to help would easily be able to see if you are secure or not.
