SLOW SITE on dedicated server

Im evaluating CS-Cart and like what I see so far, but the site is extremely SLOW.

I recently moved away from GoDaddy shared hosting to a dedicated hosting account.

So we set it up on a dedicated hosting account,

Server Beach

1.6 Celeron

1gig of ram

At times it takes over a minute to load, other times its 10 seconds.

Im really hopping its an easy fix because I like what I see with CS-cart and hope to use it in the long run…

Check out the site,

Have you looked at your PHP and MySQL memory settings? It could be improperly configured database. Take a look at the DB, something is off. Are you running PHP in CGI?

Plus, you need to gzip html and put expires on images.

I’m getting a crash course in this.

What should I look for in the DB memory settings ?

Hello Nathand,

Did you tried SmartOptimizer?

I have not seen that yet, but I will give it a try

For your case, try this, you may get a surprise. Disable this addon: Administration → Addons → Access restrictions.

Just made that change.

How do you think its performing now ?

So is it working better? It is not like you said it could take 1 minute or 10 seconds before. Right?

If you make another change, you may feel even better. Go to Design → Blocks → All Pages → Categories → Edit → Filing, Change from “Emenu” to “Dynamic”. Let us know the results.

Its still boggy…

We have a Wordpress site on the server too, and its feeling the pain.

Right now my buddy is trying to get the hard data from the server company to see if its getting better.

UPDATE, it is extremely slow ! I just logged onto the FTP and its taking 5 seconds to delete one file! uhg

If it affects FTP then it is OS’s fault… loopy driver or illogical config.

Are you sure they gave you a dedicated?

But if we remove or disable my site, everything on the computer acts fine…

Hello Nathand,

This slowness comes from (maybe) your FTP software.

Try to do the same thing with PuTTY or a SSH command via an Unix terminal:

rm MyFileToDelete.txt

Anyway, SSH commands are always a far faster than any FTP software.

Some other times, CS-Cart is slower 'cause CHMOD of some directories, especialy Smarty compiled files directory and/or SmartOptimizer compiled files directory.

You can try to clean template cache too.

Hi,

I have installed SmartOptimizer on my cart, from 20,8 seconds it dropt down to 9,1 s. This works perfectly.

Wow, that did help… Thanks …

After about 10 min’s the CSS stops loading…

If I change the .htaccess back to normal the site loads fine… Any suggestions ?

Posted a new thread on the issues with the SmartOptimizer.
