Should I show out of stock items in my cart? I am unclear on how this impacts search engines such as Google. I currently have it set to not show out of stock items but I can change that if it affects the search engine indexes and sitemaps.
If you want the search engines to index these particular out of stock products, and I would think you do, then you need to continue displaying them at all times.
Thank you. That is what I suspected but needed to confirm. I will make the changes.
You could concider adding the filter to let customers display only instock items. As this would be a customers choice it wouldn’t matter to search engines.

Actually that is what I was attempting to do. However, on product filters, it does not let me do a range of 0-0 for out of stock. Is there another way?
It’s the other way around. You set the site “show out of stock” and use the filter to show only in stock. So the filter setting you want are 1 to "the maximum of stock you will hold + some ).
For me I set it to 1 to 100 as I only ever stock ten items at most.

That is what I did and it works. I guess I was just trying to make it so you could filter just out of stock as well. I was just being too anal about it.
Where do you set these filters?
products > filters >new filter >dropdown option type “out of stock”
Depending on what you want to filter. You can also set up features under catalog and filter by those features. Of course you also need to identify those features in the actual product.
