Setting Options

im interested in knowing the way some of you set up options in your cart.

I understand that doing a import of the csv file to set up the cart is the best wat. but my issue is this…

I have 1000 products.

some of those products have multiple opions in them, (size, color, extras, etc…)

how do some of you do this when you have possibly 100 products? all of this is done in the spreadsheet? line by line, option by option, with all the needed values?

I did almost all mine in spreadsheet, about 500 of them.

Lots of them have same or similar options so used find and replace to change certain things but doesnt take that long once you get used to it.

Depends on your options I suppose.

Also you can import say, 200 of your products that have the same options and put them in a temporary category called say TEST, then create a global option to add to all of these in test category at once.

Once they are added then move them into the correct category and then ship in another 200 or whatever into test category and then add your next set of global options to that and reapeat.

Depends what your into, Im a spreadsheet freak so that works for me.

Thanks for your reply john.

so in your spreadsheet in the option area you are say copying Color: S[Red, Green, Blue]; Size: R[X, XL, XX] to all of the products that have those simular options…

uploading that?

Wouldn’t you want to use Global options when products share an option type and set?

Yes but as in my situation I may have 1 bunch of products from 1 supplier that may only go up to XL, so I then just group them by all that suppliers procucts and find and replace say Size:[sm,med, lge, xlge, xxlge, xxxlge] and replace with Size:[sm,med, lge, xlge, xxlge,] in 1 go.

Tbiserth is right about global options but I have too many small variations from different suppliers to do globals quick enough.

Thanks

John
