Selling downloads of music compositions

I am trying to use CS-Cart to build a website to sell downloads of music compositions.



I am finding 2 things difficult and I would appreciate any tips, help or advice anyone could offer.


  1. I would like for there to be a low quality sample of each music item available for potential customers to listen to before they click on the ‘add to basket’ link. The cs-cart interface allows for a file to be uploaded to be sold, but it doesnt provide a way to add a low quality version of a file that can be listened to from within the main product description.


  2. For a shop where the only sold goods are going to be music tracks, the administrative interface is VERY busy and cluttered. Is there a way to easily remove the management functions that are not required?



    For example, I want the only option when adding new products to be adding files for download, as this is the only type of product I will ever be selling. I would also like to remove all the references to shipping and all related shipping options from the back end as there will never be any shipping involved.

    Don’t think you can do in CS-Cart default… may be a custom development be required.

Thanks for the reply. So is that for both questions? Is there no way to de-clutter the back end?

Answers to:



Q1. Create a low quality version, and stream it using flash, or some other way to limit download access(dont wanna give it out for free). Add link/flash player to description, or similar. Sell using cscart’s digital sales option.



Q2. If you want to unclutter the admin from features your not going to change,

create a new admin account with limited privledges - only give access to what you need and that is all that will be shown.

Keep ‘full admin’ for those few instances you need it.



Otherwise you will need to redesign the skin.
