Searching whole store without categories?

Hello,



Is there a way to search entire store without being stuck in a category?

For example if im selling ipods and i have ipod category, and i type in ipod part number, it will make the search category ipod, but now when im looking for lets say a cable, it will say its not found because search is in the ipod category. in otherwords, whenever somone does basic search, no matter what search will look within all categories…



I hope this makes sense

there should be an option on your drop down that says “all categories”. I actually got rid of my drop down bar so it is always in all categories, but it is available in advanced search.

Is there a way to get rid of that category bar just like you did?

where would i go in the script files to change this?

You can delete the selectbox by opening your templatefile customers/side_boxes/search.tpl



Search for

[HTML]



- {$lang.all_categories} -

{foreach from=$root_categories item=“cat”}
