Save cart changes before placing order

Hi,



I'm using the venerable version 2.0.8. but I'm hoping someone has some insight for me.



I've noticed the following behavior.



When a customer is in the shopping cart page, and they press the “checkout” button, they're prompted with the following message if they've changed any of their product option selections:



“Items in the shopping cart have been changed. Please press “OK” to save changes or “Cancel” to leave items unchanged.”



However, when a customer is in the checkout page (I'm using the “one page checkout” option), and they press the “place order” button, they are not prompted with the same message. As a consequence, their changes are not reflected in the final order unless they've first clicked the “Update” button.



How can I rectify this?
