I really looked for this on the forums but couldnt find it. Thank you in advance. I was wondering if anyone knew where the robots.txt file would be. I just upgraded versions and all my search engine links come up “page not found”, which is quite tragic actually, but worth the upgrade. I really hope that by resubmitting my sitemap it will again be accurate someday. Thank you so much.
I have mine in the root and it seems to be ok. I have not noticed any issues with search engines finding and following it.
Hope thqt helps,
Eric
Yeah, if you upgraded there should be one in the root of the cart software. It shouldn’t have an affect on pages being indexed, you’ll just have pages that you don’t want indexed indexed.
robots.txt:
User-agent: *
Disallow: /classes/
Disallow: /images/
Disallow: /skins/
Disallow: /payments/
Disallow: /image.php
Disallow: /admin.php
Disallow: /store_closed.html
Thank you very much for your replies.
I have to question why the /images/ folder is disallowed by default.
Thanks to Google Image Search, etc, this folder can be a valuable source for search engine traffic… assuming that it gets indexed.
