I have been playing with the reward points for a while now. It works perfectly when I use the global settings. This is great, but not what I need.
According to a previous post ([url]http://forum.cs-cart.com/showthread.php?t=7216&highlight=reward+system[/url]) the default settings would be perfect for what I need. One point for every dollar spent. Unfortunately, I can not get the reward system to work unless I use the global settings. And then, only if a I use the “Absolute” setting, the “Percentage” does not seem to work. Thus I pose my questions:
- Where do I view these “default settings”? I do know about the “Rewards Points” tab in Addons. I feel like there must be something else.
- Why does the “Percentage” setting not work for me? I feel like this would also serve my needs if i could get it to work.

Hello!
Please let me explain how to use the “Reward points” addon.
First of all you should enable this addon. In order to do it please do the following:
- Log in your administrator panel and click on the “Addons” link in the “ADMINISTRATION” side box on the right.
- Select the “Reward points” check box and click on the “Update” button.
- Open the “Reward points” tab.
- Select the desired option.
- Click on the “Update” button.
In order to add the points for an order automatically you should do the following:
- Click on the “Reward points” link in the “CATALOG” side box.
- Enter the number of reward points for the desired membership into the input field in the “Amount” column in the “Points earned per product” section.
- Click on the “Update” button.
Please note that if “Percent (%)” is selected in the “Amount Type” option, the number of points received by a customer is calculated depending on the product prices not on the total order cost.
The reward point will be added to the customer account when his order has the “Completed” status.
Also you can add points to an account manually. In order to do it you should do the following:
- Click on the “Customers” link in the “Users” side box.
- Select the desired customer and click on his link.
- Click on the “View user points” link on the top of page.
- Select “Add” in the “Action” option and enter the desired number of reward points into the input field of the “Value” option.
- Enter a reason of addition into the input field of the “Reason” option and click on the “Change” button.
You can set up a product price in points in two ways. In order to set up the price in points manually you should do the following:
- Click on the “Manage products” link in the “CATALOG” side box on the left.
- Click on the link of the desired product.
- Open the “Reward points” tab.
- Select the “Allow payment by points” check box.
- Select the “Override global PER” check box.
- Enter the desired value in the “Price in points” input field.
- Click on the “Save changes” button.
And in order to set up a product price in points according to a ratio you should do the following:
- Click on the “Addons” link in the “ADMINISTRATION” side box on the right.
- Open the “Reward points” tab.
- Enter the desired number of reward points in the “Points Exchange Rate (PER - the number of points equal to 1 conventional unit)” input field.
- Click on the “Update” button.
- Click on the “Manage products” link in the “CATALOG” side box on the left.
- Click on the link of the desired product.
- Open the “Reward points” tab.
- Select the “Allow payment by points” check box.
- Click on the “Save changes” button.
Please make sure that the “Override global PER option” is disabled for products for which you would like to set up a price in points according to a ratio on their details page.
Also you can get more information about these options from the “CS-Cart User Manual” which you can upload on the File area page of the Customer Help Desk.

Did all of that and quadruple checked it. Only way it works is if I set points as an absolute. Percentage does not work. I have not set up any memberships, could that pose a problem?
Read the manual a number of times. Did not help.

No this problem cannot be caused by memberships.
I advise you to contact with CS-Cart support team.
How do we get the reward points to work as a total order percentage?
Currently our customers will receive 1 point for every $50 spent, but a t-shirt that costs $30 is worth 0 points. If a customer orders 2 t-shirts that total $50+, they should be able to get a point… but don’t.
