Is it possible to remove the "search to specific category block" from inside the search box?
There is no such a feature on the clean installation. Looks like the default search box is extended by 3rd party theme or addon. Please contact the developer of this feature and ask him to remove the categories block
Actually, how do you ADD that feature? Mine does not have it
