Question about CS Cart

Hi Everyone :)

Apologies if this has been asked before, I did have a look around and I didn’t find anything, I am new to this forum so I may well have missed something.

We are looking for a way to sell individual license keys on CS-Cart (multi-vendor)

For example; if I want to add a download product and the downloadable file that the customer buys contains an unique license key how can I stop someone else buying the same key code?

Is it possible to add numerous Key Code files to the same product which are removed after they are downloaded?

Could I add each unique key code to a different product that goes “out of stock” once someone has purchased the product?

Is it possible to sell only one of a downloadable product?

Many thanks for any advice you can give me about this :)

This is not a out of the box feature as far as I know.

Dear Cartfix,

Hello^^ I'm really thank you for your replied.

Best wishes,

Konth

“out of the box” (if I understand your problem properly), you would need to create a separate (cloned) product for each license key and use quantity = 1 and the admin option for “do not show out of stock items” set.

To do it properly would be an extension where your keys are stored in a separate table and referenced by product_id. The quantity would be updated each time a key is sold and the key would be marked as 'used'. If you wanted to keep track of key->customer then that is additional info that would be stored.

Hi

Thank you so much for the suggestion, I really appreciate your help :)

Could you please just clarify for me what you mean by using “quantity = 1”? there is no “quantity” that I can see do you mean “In stock”? I am new to cs-cart so I may be missing something :) sorry about this.

thank again to everyone for helping us with this :) we appreciate your taking the time.

yes, “In stock”

Hi Tbirnseth,

Thanks for your help with this. It seems, this is a pretty difficult thing to get answers on.

Unfortunately, we can’t get it to work :(

We have tried 1 in stock, with “show out of stock products” turned both off and on. We’ve also tried every permutation of minimum and maximum order quantity.

When we test-buy that product, and return to the product page - it is still available for purchase.

CS Cart told us that there was no way to do this - however, CS Cart support have been scarily misleading before. Have you made this work before? Any ideas why it might not be working for us?

Many thanks

Konth

No I have not made this work before. Just giving you ideas.

Note that you need to check your Orders/Order Statuses items and ensure that you have “reduce inventory” set for the 'Processed' status. This should decrement the inventory and if it becomes zero and you have the show in stock only checkbox set (or whatever it's called) then others will NOT be able to purchase or see the product. If they do, then that's a bug you should get fixed by cs-cart for free.

Hi tbirnseth,

Thank you so much for helping me with this. I really appreciate your help^^

Regards,

Konth

Hi tbirnseth

Excuse me, I don’t know how can I set reduce inventory? It seem to be hard. I need you to explain and show me how to do it. Really sorry about that. :-(

Many thanks :)

Konth

In the management or order statuses, you identify whether inventory is to be incremented or decremented when the order is changed to that status. You can get info from the knowledge base or the user guide.

Hi tbirnseth,

Thank you for helping me, we have tried your kind suggestions but unfortunately can’t get it to work :(

I think it must be a bug. So how can I connect to CS Cart to let them know?

Many thank :)
