Purchase CS-Cart mods

Where to purchase cs-cart mods, there is any other different website.

Submit a ticket, via the helpdesk, of what you want.

First i want to see what mods are available.

It really depends on what you are looking for. The best way to find out about the mods is to look through this forum. You can contribute to mods like the product tabs mod by contacting snorocket or you can search through the many free mods by looking through the 3 rd party mods in this forum.

The only site I know of with mods actually for sale is:

http://www.topcoderpro.com

Smavtron is on this forum quite a bit and I think almost all of his mods are for CS-Cart. I have had him design a couple of mods for me and he is easy to work with and does a great job.

There might be other sites on the web that sell CS-Cart mods and hopefully if there are than someone else might share them.

I totally agree with brandonvd – Top Coder Pro is real easy to work with. And basically, if you can think of a mod, they’ve probably already developed it.

…but their website has not worked for a few weeks now! Did TopCoderpro.com go out of business?

It looks like Top Coder did not go out of business, they just decided to not create stuff for CS anymore. Here is the response they gave me…

“We have not gone out of business but have decided not to work on CS-Cart MOD & skin developments.”

So it looks like they have gone. I remember seeing a couple of mods they had that I wanted to get after the holidays.

The sad part is there is one skin/mod developer that has left the field. So is this because no one wants the mods, there are not enough customers, or the mods they had were just not what people needed?

the main problem is people are not willing to actually pay for the mods and addons…

I’m sure that some want everything free. I don’t really expect everything to be “free”, I just think it needs to be within reason or logical. When someone ask $1000 for a mod to work with a shopping cart that cost $300 they really need to rethink their thinking. I know that some things are more “custom” or customer specific and will cost more because of the time required. But…if you want to sell more of a mod or skin you must keep the cost of it within reason. Otherwise you will not sell it because your product is priced “out of it’s market.”

I’m sure everyone would love to get free decks of cards from our site, but they understand that it cost. Likewise, when we sell a deck of limited edition cards that cost $25 a deck we know and expect to not sell as many. If we produce more of the same deck and are able to sell it for $5 we will sell a lot more. Basically, I have to be careful to not price myself out of my market too.

I’m not really quite sure about what happened to topcoderpro either. I see that Smavtron is online almost nightly and he is who was doing topcoderpro. I also have ran accross his business, but everything is now based in Europe or something since the website language is different and the prices are in Euros or some other type of currency.

I too wish that there were more people to do custom addons / mods. While topcoderpro’s mods weren’t what I would call the cleanest, they did get the job done. Now with 2.0 coming out soon I’m not quite sure exactly what I am going to do since one of my mods is really important to me and if topcoderpro isn’t around than I will have to figure something else out. Luckily for me there is a possibility that shippingkit will have an addon that might work for me, but I will have to wait and see.

At least Snorocket has the addon club and that might also be a great option for addons / mods. I know that his mods are clean and easy to install so I know for me if shippingkit’s addon won’t work than I will turn to the club and see what happens. Let alone the other addons that are in the works and look really great like the product tabs 2.0 addon.

Here are two more sources:

Oh yeah, I forgot about webgraphiq. I even bought a couple of things from them so i don’t know how I forgot.

I didn’t realize you are doing mods. I am glad to see that there will be someone else.

By the way I don’t know if you did it on purpose or not, but you misspelt voting on your exclusive mods page.

(smacks forehead) Doh!

Thanks! I posted late one night with one eye open. I owe you one.

All website are down so i will contact the helpdesk. By the way these website are excellent.

IMHO, the reason we don’t see a developer/designer community like X-Cart has is because CS-Cart is becoming bloatware. They continue add their own and our ideas/features to their cart and have no plans on stopping to my knowledge.

In stark contrast X-Cart sticks to the basics of ecommerce and let’s the developer/designer community take care of the rest. Now don’t get me wrong, I prefer CS-Cart, but not because it’s bloatware but for other unrelated reasons.

So as a designer/developer ourselves why would we invest thousands into modules only to have CS-Cart take our idea(s) and add it for free to their cart? This essentially kills our product and the investment of our time and money.

Also from a search engine perspective this opposite approach for each respective cart seems to work much better for X-Cart then for CS-Cart. Having many, many people/companies (designers/developers/community) making their own sites about X-Cart dramatically helps in their rankings and therefore sales.

So in the end it only hurts CS-Cart by stifling developers and designers and slows down CS-Cart as it becomes bigger and bigger with features (bloatware), just my 2 cents
