Promotions - Unlimited?

Hi,

Is there a limit on the number of promotions you can create and have active at one time? We have a client who is needing to have 100,000 - is that something that can be done with cs-cart? Can you set up an unlimited number of promotions?

What type of promotions is your customer creating? Not sure why there is a need for 100,000 different kinds. Do they want to use coupon codes instead?

There are no known limits for promotions. But I think that checkout pages will work slowly with such a big number of promotions. Try to find another way to use promotions

There are definitely performance implications of having a lot of promotions. Every time an item is added to the cart, every promotion is loaded and evaluated to determine if the promotion applies to that product or the current cart.

Just curious, why so many promotions? Can't they handle the variety in the conditions of much fewer promotions?

Also, if you're running any version prior to 4.3.6, having a lot of promotions will be a huge performance problem because all conditions are evaluated even if they should cause that individual promotion to be excluded.
