Promotions only work first order

Hey folks,

New to CS Cart and am fairly impressed so far, though I think that when an order is placed, not having customers and sales notified by email as default is a major flaw.

I have set up a cart promotion that gives a free item with a certain product. It works fine the first time…you add to cart, the popup shows the item plus the free item.

However if I do it a second time it shows the item, but not the free item.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

For your promotion, is it possible you have included either the “Number of uses” or “Once per customer” condition on your promotion?

For the email, do you have “Notify customer” checked on both the “Open” and “Processed” order statuses. I know others are reporting an issue with the order department email and say that CS-Cart is working on this.

Thanks Bob,

Possibly, but I can’t see those options on the promotions page…or am I being blind.

I understand that is how to make it work, my issue is that it isn’t set to ON by default, out of the box. Surely any store administrator or customer would want to be notified by email, when an order is placed…wouldn’t they?

They would be on the Conditions tab in Catalog->Promotions.

Maybe, maybe not.

For instance, we do not want an email sent to the order department for ‘Open’ orders but want an email for ‘Processed’ orders since we can ship them. We check for unpaid ‘Open’ orders in the Admin area.

Ahh OK I found that - not intuitive.

But it was not set to “yes”…actually it was not even set. I tried adding and delting it to try to toggle state.

I also made number of uses less than or equal 100,000 with no luck either.

I appreciate your help here.

If you do not want to use those as conditions, don’t add them on the Conditions tab.

Just to be clear, are you saying that the free item is not available on subsequent orders or that an additional free item is not is not offered when, on the same order, a customer adds additional qualifying items? If it is the latter, there is a feature request addressing one scenario:

If it is the first, what are the exact conditions specified on the Conditions tab?

It is if the customer adds to the cart an item qualifying for a free item (it works) then adds and additional same item…then the free item doesn’t work.

I see you have added your ‘vote’ for this feature to be added - this is how things eventually get addressed.
