Order Status... not receiving confirmation email

I really hope some one could help me with this situation

I have ticked ‘notify customer’ and ‘notify orders department’ in the order status, but neither of us recieve an email unless I manually change the status of the order.

The “View order” does not show all orders… we have to see it on the dashboard “latest orders”…

Would be great if we could recieve an email rather than logging into the admin panel to see the latest orders
