In the Appearance section of the administration panel, the setting for notice displaying time seems to have no effect. A setting of 0 do disable autohide still produces notice boxes that hide, and any other change of the setting does not effect the amount of time the notice boxes are visible before they hide. Has anyone else experienced this issue and know of a workaround?
This setting affects only the product notification box. There are instructions to change the display time of the other notifications in the following thread:

Ah, this does clear things up. I need to ask though, what is a product notification box?
Also, the javascript in that thread references the variable notice_displaying_time. Wouldn’t it be a better solution to change the value of this variable somehow instead of modifying core javascript functionality? I am going to look into this route as it would seem to be more future-proof.
