Notece that copyrights are changing?

I noticed in 2.2.2 that modified files are getting a new copyright notice. Copyrights are changing from:

* Copyright (c) 2004 Simbirsk Technologies Ltd. All rights reserved. *

to

* (c) 2004 Vladimir V. Kalynyak, Alexey V. Vinokurov, Ilya M. Shalnev *

Like to hear why from cs-cart. Very unusual to change copyrights from a corporation to a list of individuals… And not sure you can back-date a copyright and have it be recognized. I.e. if you want to change the copyright in 2011, it needs to state 2011, not 2004.

Stupid question Tony, but they are Russian right? Do Russians care about copyrights?

Brandon

while I do not know all the details or constraints, most nations are bound by copyright laws in order to engage in commerce with others.

Everyone wants to protect their intellectual property. I just find it interesting that it's moving from a Corp. to 3 individual. I know nothing about Russian Corporate Law, but I can only assume that (like most places) a Corp. has much more power in the courts than either a sole proprietorship or partnership…

I don't know, I just found it interesting…

Most of our licenses are with Simbrisk Technologies. But if the “property” is no longer the property of Simbrisk Technologies then is there any grounds for license enforcement and/or copyright protection? Will have to let one of the legal beagles figure that one out…

Of course, it could just be a mistake!

On a side note… thank god the formatting of the forum has been fixed :)

My guess is that it is a mistake, or at least I hope so.

I guess I just better be careful about how much I joke though or else the Russian Mafia will be after me.

Thank you for noticing it.

Vladimir V. Kalynyak, Alexey V. Vinokurov, Ilya M. Shalnev are the authors of CS-Cart and copyright owners since 2004. The software exclusive rights were transferred to Simbirsk Technologies, Ltd later, but now they are returned to the authors. Simbirsk Technologies, Ltd currently has the exclusive license for the software.

This change has affected nothing related to developing and distributing CS-Cart. Nothing is changed for you if you are a legal CS-Cart user, but the copyright transfer will allow us to protect our rights better.

I hope it clarifies everything.
