Should I stick with the last stable version or is this version stable enough to work with live clients?
And will the transfer to 2.0 be seamless if upgrading from the old version (once 2.0 becomes stable)?

Version 2.0beta should not be used for a live store.

No, as far as i’m aware the only thing upgradable will be the database, but no details have been released yet.
