So with 2.0.11 you can now rewrite custom SEO rules
On my site I have changed the following
http://www.livingcontemporary.com/index.php?dispatch=news.list
to
http://www.livingcontemporary.com/news.html
http://www.livingcontemporary.com/index.php?dispatch=promotions.list
to
http://www.livingcontemporary.com/promotions.html
Ive also done the same for the sitemap (now points to sitemap.html).
So my question is which things do we want to be sure are rewriting and which do we not?
For example, I did not rewrite Gift Certificates because I dont want google to crawl that page.

I tried to do exact the same thing for news. But some how doesn’t work. I would like to know what and how you did.
My all other SEO’s are working. This is how I did.
For the “REPLACE FOR” I write>>>>> ?dispatch=news.list
and For the “NAME” I write News
Is there any thing am I doing wrong?
Thanks,

I cant really respond if you dont give me any information to work with. I asked for the link so I could see what its showing now and what might possibly be the answer.
It might be a conflict between the Site News and if you Created a News Page (under Pages) with the same SEO name as youre trying to use for the redirect.
For example youre trying to redirect dispatch=news.list to news.html but you already have a news page under pages with an seo name of news.html (or you already have an html file called news.html).

Hi Tirade,
Thank you for your respond. This is what I did. In the Quick Link I create a News Link as I shown in the image.
And Then in the SEO Rules I created the rule that it shows.
None of my news pages have “news.html” URL everyone of them have different URL.
Thanks,
I also tried doing this and it did not work.
Is there anybody got an answer for this issue. I really preciated.
Thanks in advance.
You have specified the SEO rule incorrectly. It should be:
Name: news.html
Replace for: news.list
Only include the part after ‘$dispatch=’

Why it doesnt work with locations?
and your example does not too, because then the filters doesnt work then.

I think there is a misunderstanding of what SEO Rules are supposed to address. The SEO rules are really designed to allow you to give an SEO name to things like profiles, gift certificates or promotions pages (think functional links rather than content). For instance, if you create the following SEO rule, the “My account” tab in the top menu would take you to profiles.html:
Name: profiles.html
Replace for: profiles.update
I have tested this and it works for me.
You can specify the SEO at the Addons tab for pages, products and site news so there is no reason to use the SEO Rules for these. If you have provided an SEO link on the Add-on tab for either products or pages, that is the link which will be displayed. As far as working with locations, I am guessing you mean Localizations. In this case, you would just enter the SEO name on the add-ons tab for each localized page.
To my knowledge, tags currently have no SEO. If they did, it would probably make more sense to specify it in Content->Tags rather than in SEO Rules.
I am not sure what filters have to do with a news page (what was described above) - they are only available on product pages. Are you saying you want SEO on the features_hash link?
What exactly are you trying to do?
Bob
Hi Jobsales,
no i have mean with my above post (11) that the products.search cant be used for seo. Sorry it was very late…
If i use the search with seo rules, that affect the filters doesnt work.
Then i have add “Localizaions” it havent a tab with “Addons” where i can use seo link.
Yes the features_hash link cant used with seo rules too, but that i havent test it.

There is no Add-on tab in Localizations. You set the SEO name for products, category, pages and site news on the Add-on tab in each of those respective areas.

I think I understand what you mean: when you set the SEO rule for products.search, the replacement SEO URL is not generated. This appears to be a bug.

Filters work for me with SEO rules set. I am probably misunderstanding what you mean. Can you give an example.
Yes the features_hash link cant used with seo rules too, but that i havent test it.
I think it might be tricky to build SEO URLs for the feature_hash link and I am not sure of the benefit: the selected filters are already shown in the filter block which is where most people would look. These URLs should be invisible (no-index, no-follow) to the search engines to avoid duplicate content so there is no benefit there either.

Just tried this again and it is working for me. In Content->SEO rules, create:
name: products-search.html
replace for: products.search
Make sure your clear the cache. It is kind of strange because it seems like it did not start working right away but it is definitely working now.

Just observed a problem with the above substitution. When you click the “advanced search” link, the search options box is collapsed and search results are returned with no search parameters defined.
