What would cause the index.php file to be downloaded going from step “Host and database settings” to “Installing database”? I have tested the connection to the MySQL database is ok via a separate script. Thanks.
The only way I’m familiar with of that happening is if the PHP module is not loading and so your web-server (Apache, etc.) does not reconginze the “.php” extension. Hence it sees it as a file to download.
Contact your hosting provider.
This can also happen if the page takes too long to load.

It’s a server issue. Contact your hosting provider to fix it.
