New Google Rules: How Choose a Web Hosting

Hello All,

Nowadays, Google takes into account the speed of your website to determine your ranking in SERP.

What is gzip compression?

The server compresses your pages by zipping them before sending to your visitors. Thus, the weight of your pages is lighter and therefore faster to load. Your site becomes faster, becoming compatible with the new Google rules.

Why are my pages are not gzipped?

Because this function is very greedy in server resources.

So, first of all, check if your web hosting company has turned on the gzip compression for its own website:

If not, how can they help you to easily increase by yourself your rank in Google if they don’t have gzip compression for themselves?

One of the biggest and best web hosting providers like hostgator.com is not “gzipped” anyway they servers work very well. I will make them aware of this weakness…

HostGator sucks…

If I could tell you that since a client I just upgraded had PHP4 working quite ‘well’ without intrusion detention and a default setup throughout. If they can’t close doors properly I doubt they know how to gzip.

…the site has never been updated since the first SEO job.

These must be old issues, and I say this because I don’t have a clue of what is being said in this thread, and it’s not because of my bad english (ok, it’s bad  )

So, should I or should I not have gzip compression if my host himself doens’t have it (it doens’t), that’s the question…
