We want to set up a promotion that allows a person to get a product for free. That part I can figure out. The part I am having problem with is limiting it to a quantity of ONE. I want them to be able to buy 100 of the product, but only ONE of them will be free. Is this possible?
Thanks
Hi,
You need to create a cart promotion and on the Bonuses tab you will find Free products bonus and you can specific a fix free quantity
I hope that helps,

Thanks, but I tried that already. Even though it stated “1”, it gave them all free.
I figured out how to do this. Rather than specifing it as “free”, I just did a “order discount” by a fixed amount equal to the product cost. If I buy 1 or 100, it only reduces the price by the amount of one product.
Try also setting your minimum number of products to whatever to prevent
a 1 item trigger of a free item ?
In this case a rogue could place 'x' number of items in the cart to get a free
item then remove 'x' number of items from the cart and be left with a free item.
Not a biggy if you manually process the orders for despatch.
