Can some tell me if there is a hook available for adding a button on top of image like the discount% shown on product detail page / category page ?

What will the function of the button?

it will invoke a javascript / submit button

Do you use a custom template or the default?

So I think that you should look into:

design\themes\YOUR_THEME\templates\addons\YOUR_THEME_ADDON\overrides\blocks

for something like products_list.tpl ori something like this..

Please correct me if I'm wrong.
