My thoughts on Multivendor Plus and Ultimate:
It doesn’t make sense not adding Warehouses and Fulfilment by marketplace to Plus. This is because someone can still create a workaround to achieve the fulfilment by marketplace experience. It’s not a deserving gate, in fact, it just creates more purchase friction.
Just add those features to Plus to give it a more (complete) attractive appeal to encourage Cs-cart adoption. Then make recurring revenue on update purchases.
On Ultimate
The only true value proposition for Ultimate is one feature: Unlimited storefronts.
In fact, I’d argue that due to this feature, Ultimate should be more expensive than it already is right now.
Summary
- Be intentional about your pricing strategy. Don’t bundle meaningless features just to create perceived value, you are just creating friction.
- Make Plus a trojan horse by giving it complete marketplace features knowing real money comes from upgrades.
- Focus on meaningful upgrades that bring modern features and slowly modernise the backend tech stack
- Ultimate should have only one “holy grail” feature, Unlimited Storefronts.
Bonus advice
Fully develop the mobile app and maybe even offer it as a separate purchase add-on with source code for more money.
Cs-cart was ahead of its time, but competitors will catch up soon if you don’t make it the default marketplace software.
