Unfortunately categories cannot be shared. You have to create 2 identical categories tree in both store and share products between them.
For example,
Store 1:
Category A
Category B
Category C
Store 2:
Category A
Category B
Category C
On the product details page you can assign the following categories to one product:
Category A (Store 1)
Category A (Store 2)

But you can automatically duplicate the entire category structure (including products) while creating the second storefront. Click the box that says use existing store data (or something like that). I just did this last week for a client. Worked perfect.

Does this feature clones products or just shares existent ones among new store-front?

It clones categories to newly created storefront, and share origin storefront products to these categories.
