Moving cscart site to new server

In then knowledge base there is a page on Moving Cs-cart installation to another server.

On line 4 the instructions are to Copy all the original cscart files ( only modified or created) over the new installation on the new server.

My question is "How do I determine which files have bee modified or created since I originally installed cscart.

When I compressed the site and copied it to my hard drive all the dates were changed.

Thanks

Luziano

The best way to know for sure is to use programs that can look at two or more files/folder and reveal the exact differences.

Below is some links to a few of the more popular ones. Some are free while others are not. I personally use Beyond Compare from Scouter Software.

Is the server where you are moving your cart the same type as where you are moving from?

The reason I ask you this question is because most hosting control panels have backup options at the user level and transfer options at either the user or administrator levels which would allow you to directly transfer your entire account contents and allow you to fully retain permissions and ownerships.

If your old host has a backup option, you can create a full backup of your site and restore it on the new server.

Another option would be to tar your site contents which could be done with SSH access, from a cronjob, or using script functions on your web site. Some hosting control panels also have file managers that would let you create “tar” archives which will retain all your permission settings by default. Actually most do and really ZIP is the only major commonly to avoid for that.

Any of the above would be much easier than installing new or merging information
