Hi there! I’m curious if there’s an email trigger for message receivers. If not, do you know of any add-ons that could improve this function? Thank you!

It’s already there by default. Please check settings in:
Administration->Notifications->Customer notifications->Message center
Administration->Notifications->Administrator notifications->Message center
