Locations and shipping question

I’ve been busy today :stuck_out_tongue:

I have two locations set up. One called “USA” with “United States” populated from the countries selection. The other is called “Oklahoma” populated from the “States” selection. All other fields are blank. The second location is required since I will need to charge tax to Oklahoma residents. (The tax part is working)

In the shipping charges screen, there are three locations.

  1. Default
  2. USA
  3. Oklahoma

Logically, you would think you could define charges in “Default” and they would be applied to the other locations unless you override them. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case. I must define shipping dependencies in both “USA” and “Oklahoma” – even though the charges will be the same.

Am I missing something or do I really need to define the dependencies for each location? This could get messy since there dependencies for every shipping method multipled by every location.

    Thanks,

    Joey

Yes, you do! You see “Default Location” means everywhere else in the world other than OK and the USA.

Realize that if you setup “Realtime Shipping Methods” you will not have to deal with all of this work as Realtime methods are not based upon “Locations” in CS-Cart! Besides that, your shipping rates (especially in 2.1.3) will be far more accurate and allow a great deal of additional pricing control if needed!

Thanks for the reply. I don’t have my shipper IDs set up yet so I can’t use real-time shipping.
