Live Mode What does it do?

Live Mode What does it do? And what are the pro and cons?

I did a search and looked at the manual and did not find much although I may have missed it…

Live mode means the CS-Cart internal caching is on.

Kogi,

Many thanks - I just turned it on and it seems to help a bit.

Any problems with using Live Mode?

Cs-Cart recommends Live Mode for optimal performance

Yes, when I hover above the link I see that they suggest using it but is there any detailed information available for example how does it differ from the normal file caching system?

I wonder why this is on the front page of the admin…, same with the close storefront link… couldn’t these just be placed in settings instead?

I don’t understand it, but it was in the 212 release notes

You mean this is the live mode?

“…the ability to save the HTML output of blocks that appear on the storefront in the CS-Cart cache. When the next visitor requests the same block, the output is easily retrieved from the cache without going through all the database queries and addressing multiple files. When you make changes to the storefront contents like categories, products and static pages, new HTML output will be generated and cached automatically.”

Regarding block cacheing - “development mode” seems to continue to cache block content. I have to clear cache before filter blocks display new filters/results. I wish “development mode” completely disabled caching. I also wish there were similar caching settings for the admin. WIth over 20,000 products, my admin gets pretty slow.
