Layaway option?

Is there a way to allow customers to pay for products via layaway?



i.e., For x-product, the customer has the option to pay within 30 days or 90 days…or three installments within any given time frame.

I don’t think there is any way to do this out of the box but the recurring billing option might be extended to allow this.

bob is this possible ? if so is it active right now or does it have to be more coding involved cause it will work for my type of business if someone wants to buy a high dollar piece of equipment they can pay on it by weekly or monthly till it is paid for etc.



that will benifit alot but is it workable in 2.0.11 ?

I have to say this it near the top of my WISHLIST.

Layaways greatly increase my bottom line.

I have been offering layaway in my outdated Miva storefront, by offering a Layaway product (zero $ cost) that must be added to the cart, and an associated coupon that must be entered during checkout (only works if the layaway product is included), it then applies my discount and requires that the customer agree to the terms of the layaway.



Its a little extra work for the customer (entering the correct coupon) but in the end it seems that it works pretty well for me. I do have to remind and manage the payments manually, but with my volume thats manage able for now…



I would love to see a layaway option added to CS-cart that includes.

  • the ability to set the layaway term (90 days etc)
  • the deposit %
  • require the customer to agree with the layaway terms during checkout.
  • ability to apply layaway to individual items in the order??
  • automatic balance reminders (email, 2 templates, regular and overdue), every X days



    PS: anyone know if a 3rd party offers this as an addon?

OK, just trying to get this thread boosted a bit here…

Has layaway been added to the user feature requests? (I have a hard time with that system)

I am setting up a promotion that works similar to how I offered layaway before… my customers are asking for it, and I can’t find a 3rd party addon for it… so for now they agree to my terms if they use the promotion, and I process outstanding layaway orders every other week.
