Knownhost or Futurehosting VPS ?

I am on the edge for signing up on a reliable fully managed VPS with a US (California) location.


  1. Please suggest which one - Knownhost or Futurehosting - would be the best to go for considering the fact that I will be using it for CS-cart V 3.0.2 which is quite a resource hog although not as much as Magento.


  2. My main customer base is the North America, South-East Asia, Australia, UK and Europe in that order. So is the california location the best choice for lower ping times to most of the countries in these regions?



    Looking forward to some suggestions from folks who have used all or any of these hosts to run their Cs-carts. A short comparison would be appreciated.

A lot of people here are very happy with futurehosting. I personally don't knowhost (pun intended).

I signed up for futurehost but not happy with their support. Tickets take 3 hours for a reply. unacceptable in this industry. Their own forums don't work.

Futurehosting does not have a phone number for support which troubled me greatly before signing up but I found their live chat and ticket system to be a bit more responsive than 3 hours.



I've also got quite of bit more experience at administering a server than the average CS-Cart end-user, so that might make all the difference

So far their servers are performing beyond initial expectations and that's a real plus given what I paid for with other dedicated boxes.

I am very surprised to hear that. I must have opened at least 200 tickets with them and still open quite a lot of tickets, and they are always very quick. Not once it took them more then 10 minutes to respond. Are you mailing them through their portal and do you have a managed server?

I also have submitted plenty of support tickets with Futurehosting and found the response time very fast.

Yes, the responses have become a lot snappier now…This one looks like a keeper to me…I am even contemplating moving my other site to their UK Datacenter if everything goes well.



BTW, can anybody suggest me all the tweaks to perform on their VPS for CS-cart?

I just signed up for the VPS-5 and so far I've been very happy with it…



3gigs of RAM and 16 Xeon processors at my figure tips.
