Is Searchanise Bloatware?

If it looks like a bloatware, feels like a bloatware, smells like a bloatware… it is. It is bloatware.

Why cs-cart? Why add bloatware to your installations and updates?

We all know why. But please. Stop it. You can have a list of sponsors and suggest their service using an announcement or something. Please stop shoving software up our… installations a’ la Microsoft way.

If you don't like it, don't use it. There are other search addons you can use.

That's exacty what people say when they bloat up a piece of tech with bloatware. "If you don't like it, don't use it"

I want the option to not install unnecessary software on my eshop setup. Just disabling it is not the same thing as not having it installed altogether.

If I want the software, I can go ahead and install it on my own. Why preinstall it? Why install it on an update? Why take up any kb of my paid hosting space so that I can hold a piece of software I don't like? Note please... hold not use. Just have it there lay dormant.

Furthermore, why give that developer the edge on a paid piece of software?

I think that my concern is quite obvious. But I'll elaborate. I bought a piece of software. I keep paying license for it. Why bloat it up with unwanted software? Even if I uninstall it, It will probably get installed back on the next update. Why put me through this on a paid piece of software?

Furthermore. I manage more than one cs-cart installations. "Removing it" is not the same as it is for someone who manages one installation. I need to remove it on all my installations one by one. Why? Why do I need to do that? I was never even asked if I wanted to intall it. I just found it there.

Also, this thing was running and taking up resources till I realised how it worked. I tried to test it, thinking it was a new cs-cart feature but I eventually realised what it was. A hidden promo for a third party software. hence: bloatware. Why, on earth, on business websites, on professional eshops, is that resource usage without consent tolerable?

Lastly, I need to waste time removing it. Checking how it has expanded in my database and what files -temporary or not- it created. All without my consent.

For all these reasons and more... I'm sounding my discontent!

Today it's searchanise... Tomorrow there might be tens of software like that bloating each cs-cart installation.

A few years back, I wrote something similar to your opinion, but mine was different.

Imagine that if searchanise collects data about what people are searching on internet/on your website, what getting/selling good on market, and as well, on which website, in which country, in which city or place.... this is what I didn't like about searchanise.

@IMAC once said searchanise uses SphinX, then why don't you include it with cs-cart system? renting a server is $50 even cheaper, and cs-cart webshop owners can use it without any extra payment, as you cs-cart license is too much expensive, it would be better if you include SphinX searchanise with cs-cart.

imagine leak information is big problem and privacy is the strong law in some countries, which is different than Russia.

imagine how many years you do research some work, and suddenly next day all your work is on internet.

On business websites, these are MUST by law. it's better cs-cart must include SphinX/searchanise and make cs-cart independent from cs-cart company.
