I've attempted to install a trial version of cscart on dreamhost.
First attempt…
unzipped the install package on local machine,
ftp'd the lot to the server (took hours!)
Set up a new database
changed permissions on the folders and files as detailed in the install instructions
Ran install,
entered info into setup including correct host for database (never localhost on dreamhost)
Process hung at “installing database” eventually givinh the error capured in the attachment.
I know it is connecting to the database as subsequent attempts to install request poermission to erase existing cscart fields in the database… so it appears to be doing some of the process but then hanging
Second attempt…
Deleted shop directory on webroot
ftp'd .tgz installation files to folder
tar -xzvf cscart_v2.2.4.tgz
changed permissions on the folders and files as detailed in the install instructions
Ran install,
entered info into setup including correct host for database (never localhost on dreamhost)
Same result
I'm stumped. Is there something quirky about dreamhost (yes, there are many things quirky about dreamhost) that's causing this? I'm evaluating this for a client but we won't get far if i can't install it.
Ideas anyone?
Dreamhost are either disabling @ini_set or disallowing CS-Cart's default permission scheme (DSO) vs Dreamhost's probably suPHP schema
WOW!
A response in under 10 minutes and after a bit of playing with DH's panel everything is on track.
