Install as home page or inside a folder ?

Hello,

I am wondering the convenience of installing inside a folder like:

www.mydomain/mystore/index.php

or just at my home page as:

www.mydomain/index.php

I personally would prefer to have the store inside a directory.

If possible I would like to receive some comments on the convenience of one over the other.

What is the reason for a folder installation?

The use of subdirectories (yourdomain.com) or even subdomains (store.yourdomain.com) is that they are below or secondary to a main page. If you use CSC as your store & CMS then you will want everything in the root. If you have a CMS like Joomla then you will want the store in a subdirectory or subdomain unless your CMS is just for a blog.

It’s always best to have your site use subdirectories if you plan to feature a lot of components. For instance a site I am building right now uses all the subdirectories below.

/forums

/community

/classifieds

/articles

/events

/store

Now I can just point my browser to the site address and follow it by the subdirectory of what I am interested in using at that moment. This website was not focused on selling product but advertising so the store is just a side note really. A future possibility not even in production right now. Again it depends on what your company focuses on and how you will implement the store for sales. Good luck

domain.com

Nothing beats it unless you have a CMS functioning, otherwise you stop your customers from purchasing. The path of least resistance gets the most traffic

Hello Indy007,

I was thinking on something simmilat as Leif has commented with thanks.

Hello JesseLeeStringer,

You shall be absolutelly right as amazon has all it’s store on the homepage.

I thinking that a static home page loaded immediatelly with a nice welcome can also be effective

so I can have sections ordered as Leif has commented, if I need them on the future.
