I’m written it as 2 separate addons. However, I still had to modify the templates directly, as well as some of the core files.
It probably wouldn’t be working 100% as an addon.
Might be offering the right sidebar shopping cart as a free addon though. We’ll see.
I am very interested placement of sub-categories and listing the bestselling brand

Still deciding on which PHP framework to use. Zend, CodeIgniter, Kohana, CakePHP, and dozens of others. Probably Kohana, but they just released a new version.
Still deciding on which AJAX framework to use. jQuery, YUI, Dojo, ExtJs, and a dozen other ones. Probably jquery. cs-cart uses jquery and I like jquery.

Maybe you can consider Yii too especially if you are using sql db? I’ve just meddle around with it, and I like how it creates model classes with all the correct attributes, foreign keys, etc just from referencing the sql tables. It saves me lots of time. ^^
Natively supports jquery, lotsa interesting extensions. Ajax is a breeze with them.
I’ve wanted to try Kohana too, but I forgot why I decided to tried Yii first. Back then, I was doing quite heavy research on php frameworks to use. But then again, Kohana is back by a bigger community than Yii. So it might be more stable in your opinion.
For js framework, I believe jquery is the best now, more because it is becoming so widely used now, that it is easy to find tutorials, plugins, etc to use it. And also it is easy to use other frameworks on top of jquery without worrying about conflicts. And I’ve got this feeling, that most of the design community are veering towards jquery, so it is expected to find more UI plugins for jquery than others. Jquery is easy to code too. And firebug console natively supports jquery code too if I am not wrong. ^^

Been messing with a variety of shopping cart including Magento, cs-cart, os-commerce, prestashop, avactis, and so on.

Prestashop is very enticing, with it being open source, and supported by a large european community that have some of the nicest web designs around for stores. ^^ But the backend still needs lots of work I think. But for relatively short development time, since they are quite new, they’ve accomplished a lot, very active development, which is good. It also uses smarty for their skins I believe, and their live stores showcases some of the nicest web designs ecommerce sites I’ve seen for small businesses.
Their code is very nicely structured too. Completely OOP, which is VERY nice to work with.

magento does too, but it’s a little more complicated and a little more strict. However, this allows for the magento connect with makes it very easy to install extensions. Magento is bloated and complicated if you ever look at the code. Very difficult and time consuming because of the lack of documental for developers.

Because magento is running on the Zend framework, you essentially have to know Zend or be zen to really go through the ten thousands’ php files they have. I’ve not really dig into their source code before, as I was kinda put off by the complexity of the structure of the code.
In this aspect, cscart have a very logical method of arranging the structure of their source code files. More especially now with the v2 rewritten framework.
When I’ve first started working with cscart back in the v1.3.5 days, it was easy to jump in and make modifications then, without that dreaded feeling and mental block caused by huge inertia. ^^

I looked into Yii a few months back as well. Heard it was one of the fastest lightweight PHP frameworks. Only thing that turned me away was their ****py looking website and they are being maintain by guys from Asian. I was afraid of the quality control.
Well, if and when you feel like sharing with the rest of us your side cart module, it will be highly apreciated, I would love to have one (some customers just don’t see the top one)
Pitty you will not share your auto-search, it is super!
Congrats!
New addition.
Active Horizontal Menus on the top for the categories, instead of on the left side.
Current selected category is highlight.
Hello Hykit,
I would like to have a right sidebar shopping cart addon.
Do you sell it ?
Yeah, I really like that feature as well. Is there any way we can get it?
BRandon
I’ll probably post the sidebar cart in about a week.
Been busy. Need to clean it up a little bit so it’ll be a simple addon.
It’ll probably be free.
Not to be a bother, but have you had a chance to clean up the sidebar cart? This is a really cool feature and it would be nice to get.
Thank you,
Brandon
hello hykit, would you like to release this sidebar cart modification?
