How To Process The "partial" Return Or "partial" Cancel Orders?

Hi,

In order management process; how can we record/capture the "partial" return or "partial" cancel of part of items in an order?

For example lets say we have an order consists of 5 items; Here we have two cases:

1- In multi-vendor marketplace: how can the seller cancel only part of the order (cancel only 2 items) ?

2- how can the buyer do return for only 2 items out of the 5 items of the order?

We developed in-house solution for that .. we could not find ready solution...
