how to configure the order status

I am not sure if it is possible to set some parameters to control the order status based on the inventory. Are there any?

[COLOR=“DarkOrchid”]I am pretty sure you have to change the status in admin. If a customer orders something from me that is on backorder and we have enough time before their wedding, I inform them that I have processed their order and placed it on backorder so it is one of the first to ship when inventory becomes available. I don’t change the status until it actually ships at that point



Some companies won’t process it & will place it on “backorder” so the customer knows they can’t get their hands on it right at the moment[/COLOR]
